About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Finance Director to lead the campaign's fundraising operation in California's 7th Congressional District. As the campaign's lead fundraiser, you will build and execute a comprehensive finance plan, manage a growing finance team, and cultivate the donor relationships needed to power a competitive race. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to help build something meaningful.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Draft and execute a comprehensive campaign finance plan that includes call time, events, in and out-of-state fundraisers, meetings with donors, and digital fundraising. 

  • Develop and oversee fundraising projections, cash flow, revenue tracking, and budgeting in collaboration with the Campaign Manager.

  • Serve as the campaign's lead fundraiser, cultivating relationships with donors, bundlers, PACs, campaign partners, and national stakeholders.

  • Develop and execute creative strategies to maximize existing fundraising programs and identify new revenue opportunities.

  • Train and manage finance staff, including a call time manager, finance associate, and house party team. 

  • Work with the finance team and campaign manager  to oversee call-time programs with the candidate, expand existing donor databases, and plan fundraising events.

  • Duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • At least one full cycle of campaign finance experience, 

  • Familiarity with PDI (the California version of NPG Van), ActBlue, Numero, Quo, Google Drive, and spreadsheets. 

  • Previous Warchest and Call Time experience. 

  • Exceptional organizational and communications skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion.

  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and an ability to prioritize multiple assignments. 

  • Willingness to work nontraditional hours and weekends in the weeks leading up to the general. 

  • Experience working with women of color in leadership positions preferred

  • Screening interview - 20 min

  • Skills test - a few bullet points on how you will approach writing a finance plan for a $2 million budget. We will accept a finance plan of at least $1 million drafted for another race by you

  • Skills round with Campaign Manager and 1-2 more team members - 45 mins

  • Final round with candidate - 45 mins

About the Campaign

Mai is the daughter of Hmong refugees, born and raised in Sacramento. Mai’s parents fled war in Laos and arrived in California to find a new life.

As the oldest of 16 children, she helped raise her siblings while working hard to build a career dedicated to helping her community thrive. Mai is a proud product of public schools and was the first in her family to attend college. As a young organizer, Mai returned home to serve the community that raised and supported her.
